Meshay Brown was elected president of the Associated Students of Riverside City College.

She expressed her commitment and delectation to having received the position.

Shaheed Sabrin elected as incoming ASRCC Vice President

The results are in, and Associated Students vice president for Riverside City College is 18-year-old Shaheed Sabrin.

Tents were stationed throughout campus last week by student government, which gave students the opportunity to vote on the nominations.

Sabrin was the only student who ran for vice president, and although he had no opponents, he still had to receive fifty percent of the votes to win.

African-American students recognized

A group of successfully transferring Riverside City College students was recognized May 22, for the obstacles they faced in getting where they are now.

The Fouth Annual African American Student Recognition Celebration recognized Black students who were graduating or transferring.

The California Supreme Court recently overturned a ban on same-sex marriage in a close 4-3 decision.

The decision was the result of 23 same-sex couples suing the state of California in March 2004 to make their marriages legal.

They were all being represented by Jennifer Pizer of Lambda Legal, the nation's leading legal advocate for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights movement.

What I do know though is that dancing should be considered a sport.

Many would be quick to counter, that dancing is not a sport, it's not competitive and it does not fall in the same lines with hockey and soccer or for that matter, table tennis.
